2024 WPOA Pool Check-in Procedure

New rules for WPOA summer pools

No more pesky plastic pool passes

Photo IDs (such as driver licenses) are now used instead to confirm property owners.

WPOA’s “Owner Passes” and “Guest Passes” are no longer used for entry for the Chestnut Springs and Rodes Farm pools. WPOA now uses an online process allowing staff to check owner & guest status electronically.

Beginning in 2024, the staff at the two WPOA swimming pools will rely on the WPOA database of Wintergreen property owners to confirm owners’ identity and status (annual assessments fully paid). To make the check-in at the WPOA pools process quicker and easier, now owners simply need to show a photo ID upon arrival. All plastic WPOA pool passes are now obsolete.

Unaccompanied guest access to the WPOA pools is also done electronically, eliminating the ongoing job of handing out and retrieving guest passes. Any time before guests arrive the owner (or a property manager) simply registers unaccompanied guests using a short form on the WPOA website. Owners renting their property do not need the names of all guests (but it’s useful); they can register using the name of the one primary guest who will be using the pool. The online process can be done days or weeks in advance and requires answering a few simple questions.

Adapting to this new process will take some time. Pool staff can update, correct, and confirm guest information upon checking in at each WPOA pool. These procedures do not require owners who rent their property to be privy to guest activity schedules.

This system allows WPOA to check in property owners’ guests without requiring the guests to keep up with–and remember to bring–a physical pool pass. It also provides WPOA pool staff a heads-up that guests are on the property during a specific period of time and that they have your permission to use the community pool the length of their stay.

None of this applies to Wintergreen Resort’s swimming pools.

2024 WPOA Pool Rules

Six guests per property may access the pool. Example: one owner and five guests can use the pool, two owners and four guests, or six unaccompanied guests. The limit on people using WPOA pools per property is six (regardless of whether an owner or guest).

• All pool participants must sign in, acknowledging both risks and pool rules.

• All unaccompanied guests must be registered in advance.

• Swim Diapers are required for young children/toddlers.

• No glass containers are allowed in the pool area.

• No pets in the pool area. Service dogs may be permitted. *Under ADA and VA Law, facilities are not required to allow emotional support animals, only documented service animals. No animals are allowed in the pool.

• Pool will be closed temporarily during thunder and lightning. Owners and guests must exit the pool and may not enter the pool until staff re-opens the facility.

• Owners and guests are required to follow the directions of the pool staff.

• No use of foul language or obnoxious or abusive behavior toward other owners, guests, or pool staff.

• Lifeguards are not always present. You always swim at your own risk.

Enforcement of Rules: Owners or guests who fail to follow the rules will be reminded of the rules. Owners or guests who repeatedly fail to follow the rules will be asked to leave the facility; owners risk losing pool privileges for their household for the remainder of the swimming season.
