"The Nature Foundation's greenhouse in the valley has hundreds of mature, native shrubs that are ready to plant," Executive Director Doug Coleman announced in his Summer newsletter.
"We saw our first native azaleas bloom this year, five years from the time the seeds were planted. Over 100 species of wildflowers, fern, and shrub species are available.
"With hard work of the plant propagation volunteers, and greenhouse staff member Liz Powell, we successfully grew or rooted cutting of almost 1,000 over the winter season. There has never been a greater choice of native plants for both new and restorative efforts within the region." For more information on for buying plants, Coleman said to visit their website for sale dates or call 434-325-7451 for an appointment.
