WPOA will begin renovating the Mountain Mail Center on Sunday, 2/28. If all goes as planned, the project should be complete in 7-10 days.  A summary of the project is included below.

Construction:  Step 1 - WPOA will be relocating all of the existing mailboxes into the 2 sea containers, adjacent to the mail center.  This will allow mail service to continue while the current space is renovated and the new mailbox equipment is installed.  We are starting this work on Sunday so we do not disrupt mail delivery.  The temporary mail center will be open on Monday 3/1.  Step 2 - Make a mess in the old space.  Paint the interior, install new flooring, fix the entry, etc.  Step 3 - Install all of the new mailboxes and parcel boxes.  Step 4 - clean up our mess.

Assisting the Postal Service:  Once the new boxes are installed, all of the existing mail will need to be transferred from the old boxes into the new boxes.  WPOA is not allowed to handle mail, an employee from the United Sates Postal Service will make the switch.  To help facilitate this effort, WPOA will be onsite ready to assist our USPS representative...

Key Swap:  Once the new boxes are installed and ready for use, owners will need new keys.  WPOA will be onsite beginning Tuesday March 2nd through Friday March 5th from 1pm until 3pm.  We hope to issue most of the keys during this time period.  Any owners who are unable to pick up keys will be contacted and an alternate arrangement will be worked out.

How Owners Can Help:

  • The mail center will be closed on Sunday 2/28/2021 for the big move. Please collect your mail on Saturday or wait until Monday when you can explore the temporary space.

  • Watch for signs about the transition back into the mail center. When we move mail into the new boxes, it would be great if owners could avoid collecting their mail during that time.

  • Please be patient. While we have everything we need and USPS has confirmed they are ready to do their part, unexpected things happen.

Other Upgrades Planned:

  • The pavement in and around the mail center will be addressed when we have the paving contractor onsite late Spring/early Summer.

  • The mail drop box is going to be relocated to a more convenient spot for drive up service.

  • The original package boxes recently relocated outside are going to be replaced with new ones.
